Matt Hong

Retired Chief Operating Officer

Matt Hong was the Chief Operating Officer of Turner Sports, a subsidiary of WarnerMedia and AT&T, until his retirement in 2019. During his 11 years at the company, Hong was closely associated with or led several milestones including the original and current NCAA rights agreements, the current renewal of Turner’s partnership with the NBA, the acquisition of Bleacher Report, and the acquisition of UEFA Champions League rights.

In addition to his division-wide responsibilities, Hong oversaw the growth and management of various sports businesses and properties including Bleacher Report, NBA TV, NBA Digital, NCAA Digital and March Madness Live, SI Digital, NASCAR.com, PGATOUR.com, PGA.com and PGA Championship Live, GOLF.com, and the B/R Live OTT offering.

Hong joined Turner Sports after previous executive positions at Thomson and AOL. While at AOL, he architected and oversaw the company’s multi-billion dollar partnership with, and equity stake in, Google, and managed the Search business across the AOL portfolio of properties.

Hong received a JD with honors from Harvard Law School and a BA in economics from NC State University, where he was the university co-valedictorian. He is based in Atlanta where he lives with his wife and two children.
