Richard Fisher, M.D.

Former President and Chief Executive Officer, Fox Chase Cancer Center

Dr. Richard Fisher was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Fox Chase Cancer Center. He held the title of Cancer Center Director of Fox Chase, and served as the principal investigator on the Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) from the National Cancer Institute. Additionally, he was the Robert C. Young, MD, Chair in Cancer Research at Fox Chase and Senior Associate Dean, Cancer Programs at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine, Temple University.

Throughout his career, Dr. Fisher has held a number of important leadership positions at the national level in the oncology community. Highlights among these include: Chair of the Lymphoma Committee of the Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG) from 1985-2013; Deputy Group Chair of SWOG from 2005-2013; and Chair of the Lymphoma Research Foundation Scientific Advisory Board from 2008-2010. Other roles, honors and awards include: member of the V Foundation’s Scientific Advisory Committee from 2003-present; member of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Lymphoma Steering Committee from 2009-2013; and Chair of the NCI Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPORE) Review Committee in 2010.

Before joining Fox Chase in March 2013, Dr. Fisher was Vice President for Strategic and Program Development at the University of Rochester Medical Center, where he was also the Samuel E. Durand Professor of Medicine. Dr. Fisher served as Director of the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, and Director of Cancer Services for the Strong Health System in Rochester, N.Y., for 11 years.
